Anglers Marine Bass-A-Thon coming up this month

It’s already November! For most bass anglers that means two things; turkey dinner and the Anglers Marine Winter Bass-A-Thon. The annual celebration of all things bass fishing is scheduled for November 20th and 21st this year (Saturday and Sunday). The two day show will feature seminars from some of the nation’s leading bass tournament anglers, the premier of a ton of new 2011 fishing tackle (available for purchase for the first time of the year), free workshops by regional experts and much, much more. If you have any interest in bass fishing at all, this is a can’t miss event.

San Diego teams make strong showing at team championships

The 2010 team tournament seasons came to an end this month, with National Bass West, American Bass and WON Bass all hosting their annual team championships in October. As usual, San Diego was well represented with at least 1 San Diego based team finishing in the top 10 of all three championships. The San Diego continingent of team qualifiers was led by Art Bailey of Anglers Marine and his partner Mike Walsh who took second place at a wild National Bass West championship at Lake Havasu.

Fraternal Order of Local Snake Oil Salesmen

After watching an MSNBC biography of famed pitchman Ron Popeil, I start to hear Jim Croce singing “Time in a Bottle.” I began to wonder if bottling time was possible, who would be a talented enough salesman to sell it? Yes, my mind does work this way. I mean, it sounds like it would sell itself. Right? Then again, there are a lot of items that should sell themselves that don’t. Marketing is what it is, and does what it does, because it is neccessary to spread the word; to let people know of its existence, its purpose, its value. Without it, the product simply is useless. Take that $100 lure of yours. Throw it in the wrong spot, at the wrong time, and never catch a thing. What an over-priced hunk of junk you’ve got. However, throw that $3.00 lure at the right time, right place, and it will have a hundred times the value of the fore mentioned lure.
