Poway catfish record falls again in 2017

  • After standing for 9 years prior, the Lake Poway catfish record has been broken twice in 2017.

Avery Lee of Rancho Penasquitos caught a 47 pound blue catfish on November 2nd to eclipse the 44.5 pound record caught in July by Ryan Hopkins.

Avery was fishing with several members of his family along the log boom, and caught the big catfish on mackerel with 12 pound test line. This catfish was kept, unlike the one in July.

Previously to this pair of record catches, the record catfish at Poway was a 34.5 pounder caught in 2008 by Scott Marchese.
