Ed Zieralski of the San Diego Union Tribune reports that the city of San Diego has announced a tentative date to reopen San Vicente Reservoir for recreation on November 5th, 2015.
The opening of San Vicente will be highly anticipated by local anglers. San Vicente was arguably San Diego County’s most stable and consistent producing freshwater fishery when it was closed to the public for its dam raise project in the summer of 2008.
San Vicente version 2.0 will hold an additional 117 vertical feet of water storage, feature the county’s longest launch ramp, and a new marina, concession building, and parking lot.
Zieralski also reports that the city plans to roll out a new operating schedule, allowing fishing year-round Thursdays through Mondays at San Vicente. And with that, El Capitan will get some relief and a new schedule of its own; Friday through Tuesday year-round.
