  • Ahead of the opener, Santee Lakes will stock a total of approximately 2,500 pounds of rainbow trout, included amongst them will be tagged fish that will earn prizes for anglers that catch them. Prizes will also be awarded for the largest trout caught during the weekend.

Santee Lakes will be open this weekend from 6 am to 6 pm. Anglers do not need a California State Fishing License to fish at Santee Lakes, but a daily fishing permit is required for anglers 16 years of age and younger.

This weekend is just the start though as trout plants will occur regularly through March at Santee Lakes. You can check out a schedule of future fish plants at Santee Lakes, and other area reservoirs on our Trout Stocking Schedule.
