  • The 2017-2018 lobster season will feature several regulation changes this year, starting with the start time.

The recreational fishing season for California Spiny Lobster opens tomorrow, Saturday, September 30th at 6 am. Traditionally the season had opened at 12:01 am, but the California Department of Fish and Wildlife cites safety as the reason for the switch in start times. Several other changes were made as well, which you can see outlined here.

San Diego fishing guide and charter Captain Alan Clowers says conditions are good for a productive start to the lobster season tomorrow.

“Everything is looking good, water temps are pretty normal this year and that should make for a good crawl.”

Clowers will have both of his saltwater boats ready and equipped to run nightly lobster trips this season, and is taking online reservations for the season on his website.
