If you’re looking for yet another sign that we’re likely going to experience a significant El Nino this year, the Excel just caught and released 2 marlin this morning while on a 3 day fishing trip. With the warm water conditions, even with 3 day trip range, these boats aren’t fishing too far from the US.
On this most recent trip, which left Wednesday, instead of steaming straight south, the Excel stopped on kelp just past the Coronado Islands to put their passengers on some nice yellowtail. After limiting out on yellowtail the following morning, they headed offshore about 5 miles and caught over 100 smaller grade yellowfin tuna.
And Friday’s morning featured some extra excitement, with the two marlin being hung and released after they put on an aerial show for the boat.
