White seabass report from Captain Alan Clowers

We fished seabass on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and found thick squid beds off Mission Beach that yielded some big white seabass for us. We anchored up in 80 feet of water, and fished live squid on both balloons and fly-lined. I rigged a 35′ foot leader on the balloon with an 8/0 circle hook on 50 pound mono. TJ Flats and La Jolla all have good seabass fishing right now. The big fish of the night was a 62.4 pounder, my biggest ever that measured 60.5 inches! Now is the time to get out and possibly get the fish of a lifetime.
