Sculpin season closes September 1st

  • The California Scorpionfish (aka Sculpin) season comes to a close beginning September 1st for boat-based anglers. It’ll reopen on January 1st.

    This seasonal closure does not affect shore-based anglers. They can be caught year-round from shore, and kept in accordance to the daily bag limit of 5 fish per person, a minimum of 10″ in total length per sculpin.

    F&G Dept said sculpin is closed to everyone untill the new year. Just got off the phone with a warden in SD right now… Can you clarify this, because either they’re wrong or the info on this page is…
