The final trout plant of the season took place on Wednesday and consisted of larger fish then the previous stocks. Warming water temperatures are driving the trout westward, toward deeper water. The south shore is also been productive for the same reason. Powerbait and inflated nightcrawlers have been the best baits.
The 88 anglers checked at Sweetwater Reservoir last week reported catching 5 bass, 11 carp and 96 crappie.
The 96 anglers checked at Lake Hodges last week reported catching 67 bass, 40 crappie and 1 channel catfish. The bass numbers are up a little from the last report, and the crappie bite seems to be holding on relatively consistent. Crappie are being caught on shoreline brush, especially that on steeper banks with small mini jigs.
While there was no official fish report from Sutherland this last week, anglers on our forums report a mediocre bass bite on plastics and crankbaits.
