Mt. Lassen planted last Tuesday and HOLY COW! Their first fall plant didn’t disappoint anyone. They said that they were going to bring us some nice trout, but this is off the charts.
Diamond Valley Lake received two trout plants today, one from Mt. Lassen (500 pounds) at around 7:30 in the morning and another by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (unknown total) a couple hours later.
Bass are biting! Anglers are catching many bass off shore in the 15-25 ft range. They are also catching bass drop shotting in the 30-40 ft range. They’re bringing in smaller bass between 2-3 pounds. Dropshotting purple and brown colored plastics works best for catching bass. Senko’s are also working great!
Lake Jennings will continue to stock Sierra Bow Trout weekly and is now receiving 10-12 pounds in size. Trout will continue to spread out around the lake making them accessible from both shore and boat. Bass are expected to move in closer to the banks unless we hit a real cool down. This year is very different from the past years with behaviors being very unpredictable. Lake Jennings will be OPEN Monday February 17th, 2014 for President’s Day!
Trout from 4-6 pounds are biting, as well as stripers from 5-10 pounds and black bass to 3 pounds. More rainbow trout from the CDFW are scheduled to be stocked this week. And 500 pounds from Mt Lassen will be planted on the 18th.
Diamond Valley confirmed a stock of 1,000 pounds of larger grade trout from Mt. Lassen this morning, February 4th.
